Living in The Portland OR Downtown Area Has Some Great Benefits

The downtown lifetyle might not fit everyone’s personality, but for those who are drawn to the fast paced lifestyle of the city center, downtown Portland real estate in Oregon can offer some amazing perks.

A big advantage to living in the heart of Portland is how easy transportation is to and from Portland’s downtown and within it. For most residents, bikes and public transportation are the preferred method of getting from one place to another. However, there’s no necessity for a car or bikes if you use Portland’s nationally acclaimed public transit system, TriMet. But Portland’s definitely a flexible city and works great for all types of transportation.

Walking regularly is a great way to stay healthy, and Portland is definitely supportive of a pedestrian lifestyle. In fact, the city blocks in Portland were intentionally designed considerably smaller than in other cities (200 feet instead of a typical 300 to 800 feet), providing a closer walk to Portland’s many corner restaurants and shops. If your workplace is downtown, this means you may actually be able to sell your car for good.

Portland’s downtown district has some very nice residential areas where you can purchase a Portland condo and reside in the inner core of the city in style. Depending upon where your place of employment is, you could end up within close walking distance from your job.

There are quite a few good locations to consider if you want to buy a converted loft in Portland, but probably the most popular is The Pearl District. It’s popular because of the abundance of retail shops and easy to use transportation, The Pearl District is also where many fashionable art galleries and upscale businesses are located.
