What exercises can I do?

Doubleuess asked:

I’m a 20 year old male, who is very slim and unfortunately quite low on vitamins, iron, etc. For years now, my life has kept me mostly indoors and as a result I’ve barely had any exercise. Well, it’s time to change! Could you suggest some good indoor exercises I can use for my whole body, to slowly build back up and get healthy again. Including how long I should spend doing these each day. Thanks!
If you really want to know, I haven’t been living a normal life because of severe depression and other things connected with it.

I think stair climbing and walking is the best exercise…. You should do a fast walk for 20 minutes each day… if you don’t want to walk you can also climb stair….. These are good exercise because they won’t hurt your joint… if you run your joint and knee would eventually break or destroy…

I would concentrate on sit ups to strengthen up your core first.. That’s your back and your stomach muscles. Since this is the middle of your body it needs to be the strongest. With a strong core all other exercises are a pretty easier to do…

Good for you wanting to get healthy again. If you type in “workouts at home” you’ll get some good tips. I found this one:

Push ups are great for your chest and arms, do some tricep dips and bicep curls too. Lunges and squats will help and lookup some great ab workouts. Nothing makes you feel better than rock hard abs – and you start to see results within a few weeks.

You will need to do some cardio as well, start with 10 minutes a day if that’s all you can manage and work up to 30 minutes on say 5 days a week (even 3 is better than nothing). If you can’t go outside you can walk on a treadmill, dance to your ipod, get a static exercise bike, walk up and down stairs, jump rope.

Ask your doctor about vitamins and iron you can take and work on a healthy diet. Get plenty of protein so you can build muscle and drink loads of water.

    Good luck!
